LinksMaster® Zoysiagrass is a superior turfgrass selection in the transition zone of the United States where below freezing or hot and dry conditions can occur for golf course tees, green surrounds and fairways. LinksMaster® Zoysiagrass is in the Matrella Family of Zoysiagrasses and yet it has a very high degree of winter cold tolerance and very high shade tolerance. Similar in look to Cavalier Zoysiagrass it is superior in every way to Cavalier which has an unsightly reproduction problem year round with seed heads interrupting grass blades and which also does not have a rich winter dormancy color.
LinksMaster® Zoysiagrass can be easily mowed to a ½ inch mowing height and be maintained at that height year round. Following establishment it has very low fertility needs and resists most turfgrass pests and plant diseases. Do not over water or over fertilize this plant in the Spring as it truly does not need much nutrition. A blended fertilizer works best like 13-13-13 in mid-May and around August 1st. It is by far the best answer for shaded golf tees that we know of and has an excellent recovery rate from divots. While it is highly drought tolerant, irrigation is critical during prolonged drought conditions. Read our Case Study for Golf Courses to learn more about the financial savings and environmental benefits of LinksMaster® Zoysiagrass.
Reducing mowing heights should be done in the Spring or early Summer during high regrowth periods. Late Summer or Fall mowing height reduction can result in scalping injury that will remain an eyesore until regrowth the following Spring.
LinksMaster® is reel mowed at our farm and ready to use on golf tees, green surrounds or fairways. Large jobs need to be scheduled well in advance please.
